Hive Router now supports Federation contexts, letting nested fields receive data from their ancestors without exposing it as a public argument, and resolves all distinct context values in a single subgraph request.

GraphQL Yoga v6 now uses Hive Logger, adding structured, per-request logging. This release also drops support for end-of-life Node.js versions and GraphQL versions older than 16. There is also a bump to the GraphQL tools version.

The new `hive_router anonymize` command replaces every name and value in a supergraph and its operations with keyed hashes, so you can share them without revealing your schema.

Why does exploring a big schema cost an agent so much? Expedia's supergraph has more than 18,000 types, and they collapsed agent access to it down to two tools: search and execute. The schema traversal runs in a sandbox instead of the context window. In a side-by-side example, auditing a single GraphQL operation, code mode made 14x fewer tool calls, took 56% less time and used 82% less context. A smaller MCP surface makes a more capable agent.

"It's lunchtime and I'm hungry. I'll take one GraphQL please, well done with a side of API orchestration. This is how I explain GraphQL to the uninitiated, I wonder if this is useful to you? Let me know! I think I'll do a series with this food-ordering scenario as an analogy, uncovering more use cases for GraphQL in the modern era. This one's pretty basic but a serviceable entry point into a richer discussion!"

What happens when an agent can see all of it: the schema, the pipelines, the tickets and the monitoring? At RS Group, a four-person team runs a small set of agents that trace issues across all of those and help write the fix. Juan Carlos Blanco Delgado showed why years of federation standards made great agent context, and why a federated graph is already most of a context graph.
